The Apple iPhone series is indeed a technological marvel of its day; however, when the battery has died they are about as useful as a chunk of polished glass in your pocket. Not mentioning the impact when it occurs at the worst possible moment. It leaves people wondering how to make your iPhone last for years, how to keepiPhone last longer, stay on longer or how to make your iPhone natter last longer? All these can be accomplished with these 10 tips for how to make your iPhone last longer.

iPhoneTip #1: Turn on Low Power Mode

On the iOS 9 or later installed on your iPhone, Apple has added a Low Power Mode feature. In order to turn it on (See) Settings > Battery > Low Power Mode. The feature temporarily turns off or reduces apps that run in the background: mail fetch, Siri functions, background app refresh, automatic downloads, and some visual effects until the cell battery is fully charged.

iPhone Tip #2: Turn down the volume

Turning the volume down on your iPhone and using headphones where possible, will reduce the drain on battery life. Again go to your Settings > Music, you can also set a volume limit and turn the EQ off to conserve even more power.

iPhone Tip #3: Turn off iCloud

Automatically backing up to iCloud can drain your battery and eat up the data allowance. A useful feature for backing up vital data; however, check to see if there is anything you do not care to back up. Once again go to Settings > iCloud and toggle off anything that is not required.

iPhone Tip #4: Turn off “Hey Siri”

If not using this feature turn it off. This is a drain to the battery because your iPhone will be listening for “Hey Siri” whenever it’s charging. To turn it off go to Settings > General > Siri and turn “Hey Siri” to off.

iPhone Tip #4: Don’t  disable or turn off your apps

Many people believe that the apps listed when you double tap the Home button are actually still open in the background and using battery life; however, that is not the case. Outside of Background App Refresh, the majority of apps are not draining the battery when not in use. Actually you wind up draining more battery by double tapping the Home button and quitting them all the time.

iPhone Tip #5: Turn off Background App Refresh

By going to Settings > General > Usage. Here is a quick test. Make a note of the remaining standby and usage times, then tap the sleep/wake button and wait 10 minutes. Then go back to Settings > General > Usage and you should find standby time has increased by 10 minutes. (If Not) then something is keeping the iPhone from resting, and most likely it's an app.
Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and review list. Make a determination if all the apps are really needed. When these apps update themselves in the background, they definitely put a drain on the battery life. Turn off all the apps you don’t need to update automatically. They will still update and work when turn back on, they just won’t keep running when not in use.

iPhone Tip #6: Change Push Email to Fetch.

If you don’t really need to get every email as soon as it drops in the inbox, or perhaps you’ve a less important secondary email account, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data and switch from Push to either Fetch or Manual. With Fetch you set the interval for example, every 15 minutes, 30 minutes, etc. for the iPhone to check for new emails. The longer the interval, the less of battery it will drain. With Manual it only checks for new email when the app is opened.

iPhone Tip #7: Turn off push notifications from apps.

Some apps send notifications that are really not required. Go to Settings > Notification Center and look under Include. Tap on any apps that you don’t need notifications and choose None under the Alert Style, and then toggle Show in Navigation Center to off and Show on Lock Screen to off.

iPhone Tip #8: Turn off Automatic Downloads.

Having your iPhone update Music, Apps, and iOS automatically, will again drain the battery. The iPhone might also choose the most inopportune time to update everything. To extend battery life, go to Settings > iTunes & App Store and sliding Use Cellular Data to off. Now it will only perform the updates on Wi-Fi. Conserve even more battery life by tuning off the automatic downloads altogether and update only when your ready.

iPhone Tip #9: Reduce screen brightness

Your iPhone screen is the greatest drain on battery life than all the others. Remember “The candle that burns twice as bright, burns only half as long” Go to Settings > Wallpaper & Brightness and turn Auto-Brightness off. Set brightness to the lowest setting and is still readable. You may need to adjust the setting from time to time, but here is where lots of juice can be saved.

iPhone Tip #10: Reduce Auto-Lock time.

When not is use, your iPhone takes a set amount of time to turn the screen off. To change You can change it in Settings > General > Auto-Lock. Set it to the lowest setting, that will not get you in a bad mood.
