Spring Clean your Phone to Perfection

With flowers blooming and bees buzzing, it must be that time for spring cleaning. It’s out with the old and in with the new, not only in our rooms and closets but our phones as well. The year-round cleanup requires an iOS update to make your phone faster and more organized.

With our mobile devices as an extension of ourselves, it’s time we hit the refresh button and let the phone spring cleaning begin.


Update and Upgrade


It’s important for your phones to be updated with the newest features. There are new updates and features almost every month so your phones can fall behind with its functionality if this is not up to date.

Although phone updates are automatic, it is always worth it to double-check your updates. This can be checked by going into Settings>General>Software Update. Keeping software and apps current usually results in a smoother running smartphone.


Restore Storage Space

Do you ever find yourself swiping through five different screens filled with unused apps? Admit it, you’re a hoarder like the rest of us. Well it’s time to organize, de-clutter, and delete. If you haven’t used an app for about 2 or three weeks, it may be a sign it’s time for it to go.

But just in case you go selfie crazy, it’s always good to have free storage space.  There is no specific amount you should have, but enough so it doesn’t crash and make your phone snail slow. Simply check your Settings>General> Usage, to dictate what to delete and what to keep.

Also, when you sync your phone with your computer, go into iTunes> Phone> Summary. It will tell you exactly how much free GB you have. What also can take up space are documents and . Photos, videos and screenshots takes almost 273 MB of storage due to the built in camera roll.  But organizing doesn’t mean goodbye forever, it means storing them somewhere else other than your phone like a USB.

Clean and Disinfect Your Phone (If you use one)

Using your phone every day, hour, and minute, it can be an ongoing build up of dirt and bacteria. Ew. Although it’s important to use a case for your phone’s protection, it is crucial to clean both the inside and out thoroughly.


Remember when you’re cleaning your phone to power it off and unplug it. Wipe off fingerprints with a microfiber cloth, which won’t scratch the surface of your screen. Moisten the cloth to remove any sticky substances and immediately wipe the dry end of the cloth.
